St. Louis Treasurer Tishaura O. Jones will cohost the second annual Financial Empowerment and Job Fair on Saturday, April 25 to conclude 2015 Money Smart Week.

Held April 18-25, Money Smart Week consists of more than 200 free classes, events and seminars to help people learn about personal finance management. The courses are designed for people of all ages and feature classes aimed at helping women, small business owners, youth, students, retirees and more meet their financial goals.

The Financial Empowerment and Job Fair will be held 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Β Saturday, April 25 at St. Louis Community College – Forest Park, 5600 Oakland Ave.

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, The United Way of Greater St. Louis and the St. Louis Agency for Training and Education (SLATE) are co-hosting the fair. Parents will have an opportunity to network with employers, establish checking and savings accounts, and even get one-on-one credit counseling while children can participate in the Kid$ Zone.

“There is a tremendous need in our community to help people get the resources they need to improve their financial well-being, and having a job is key,” said Tishaura O. Jones, treasurer of the City of St. Louis.

Several banks and credit unions, as well as state and federal agencies, will be on hand to provide information about second-chance bank accounts, credit counseling, the unclaimed property database, identity theft, and new opportunities available through the MOST 529 College Savings Program.

Money Smart Week is organized by the Greater St. Louis Financial Education Collaborative and more than 100 other organizations. It is co-chaired by Debbie Irwin, community economic development director at United Way of Greater St. Louis, and Sarina A.
