Drew Canaday was sworn in as a police officer in the Ferguson Police Department, the seventh African-American police officer in the department and the first recipient of a scholarship to attend the St. Louis County Police Academy adopted by Ferguson City Council members in 2014. Previously he worked for St. Louis County Corrections for 14 years. Ferguson is seeking additional funding to hire more police officers.
