Farrakhan Shegog

Tiffany Anderson, EdD, was honored as recipient of the Margaret Bush Wilson Lifetime Achievement Award during the recent St. Louis NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner downtown.

Anderson, former Jennings School District superintendent, is the first African American female superintendent of Topeka Public Schools. Her innovative approaches to addressing poverty and transforming communities have earned her national recognition.

Farrakhan Shegog, Young Voices with Action president and CEO, received the Medgar W. Evers Medal of Freedom. Shegog has impacted over 200 young people through leadership training, civic engagement, wealth building, health education, and geopolitical awareness since joining the organization in 2012. 

Receiving the Ina M. Boon Social Justice Award were state Sen. Karla May, Constance “Connie” Taylor, Ameren director of community engagement and impact.

The organizations receiving Frankie Muse Freeman/Norman R. Seay Commitment to St. Louis Awards were CareSTL Health (formerly Myrtle Hilliard Davis Comprehensive Health Centers), Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers, Elmer Hammond Center, South Side Childcare Center, and South Side Wellness Center
