Rev. La’Vetta J. Ross was installed as Union Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) senior minister on Sept. 7 in its historic sanctuary on Union Boulevard.
Ross is only the second woman and the first African American to serve as the senior minister of the church in its 120-year history.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Ross received a master of divinity degree from Eden Theological Seminary in 2015 and has served as a chaplain at Christian Hospital in north St. Louis County and as senior pastor of Crossroads Christian Church in Caseyville, Illinois.
