St. Louis Confluence, a nonprofit that supports TEDxStLouis and TEDxStLouis Women, has elected Esmeralda Aharon as treasurer and appointed Huvona Watkins, Larry Morris and Lyah B. LeFlore-Ituen to its board of directors.
Aharon serves as faculty, staff and community engagement program director in the Office of Ignatian Mission in Medicine at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. An Army veteran, she is also co-founder of Latinas Rising, an organization focused on leadership development and mentorship for women.
Watkins is executive director of Almost Home, a nonprofit that helps teen mothers achieve self-sufficiency and build stable futures for themselves and their children.
Morris serves as programs and partnerships director for the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, where he oversees artist residencies, community engagement initiatives and institutional partnerships.
LeFlore-Ituen is director of African American History Initiatives at the Missouri History Museum. She is a New York Times bestselling author, award-winning producer and NAACP Image Award winner with more than 30 years of experience in media, history and storytelling.
The organization also selected Sarah Arnosky Ko, a civic and economic development leader at Greater St. Louis Inc., to serve as board chair. Jia Lian Yang of Forward Through Ferguson was elected secretary.
