The University City Council has appointed Brooke A. Sharp as city manager following a national search that attracted more than 45 applicants.

Sharp has served as interim city manager since February, following the retirement of longtime City Manager Gregory Rose. She previously served as deputy city manager and assistant city manager.

Mayor Terry Crow cited Sharp’s leadership during the transition as a key factor in the council’s decision.

Sharp, an attorney and former East St. Louis city manager, is scheduled to take the oath of office June 22.
