Velma Bailey was recently elected president of the Federation of Block Units. A former alderwoman for the City of St. Louis, she will lead a grassroots, volunteer organization focused on helping St. Louis residents improve their neighborhoods and the quality of life for families and residents. Founded in 1932, the Federation is one of the largest self-help organizations in the United States and an Auxiliary of the National Urban League.
