This week the United Way announced a new matching gift program from the Regional Business Council (RBC) designed to increase the number of women and people of color in RBC firms who support the United Way at its Leadership level. The RBC Leadership Giving Initiative will match individual donor gifts of $500 in the first year and contribute $250 to second-year individual donor gifts of $750. Donors will then contribute fully at the United Way Leadership Giving level ($1,000) in the third year.
The Regional Business Council is a consortium of CEOs representing some of the region’s largest mid-cap companies. It is offering this incentive to encourage diversity within its member firms and throughout the region. United Way of Greater St. Louis funds 200 bi-state health and human service agencies that serve one million residents in 16 counties.
“As a contributor to the Charmaine Chapman Society, I am pleased that the Regional Business Council is adding another vehicle to encourage persons of color to give at the Leadership giving level,” said Arnold Donald, president and CEO of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and chair of the RBC’s Business Diversity Committee.
