One of Secretary of State Robin Carnahans legislative priorities, the “Red Tape Reduction Act,” was passed overwhelmingly by the Missouri General Assembly as part of HB 481.

More than 400,000 business in Missouri are required to file corporate registration reports with the Secretary of State’s Office. This act will save businesses time and money by providing the option of filing these reports every two years rather than annually. The act will also reduce the filing fee for Limited Liability Companies by over 50 percent and create efficiency by encouraging online filings.

In addition to the optional biennial filing, the “Red Tape Reduction Act” allows businesses to change the month of their filing to match tax and other paperwork deadlines.
