Dr. Karen Collins-Adams has been elected to serve a second term as president of the St. Louis Public Schools Board of Education.
Also elected to leadership roles by fellow board members are Brian Marston, vice president, and AJ Foster, secretary.
In addition to its newly elected officers, the board includes Donna Jones, Emily Hubbard, Tracy Hykes and Dr. Robert S. Harvey.
The board recently hired Dr. Myra Berry as superintendent after she served in an interim role since last fall. The district also is managing the aftermath of a devastating tornado last May, declining enrollment and school closing decisions — all of which present ongoing financial and operational challenges.
Collins-Adams said the board “enters this next chapter with a shared commitment to responsible financial stewardship, ensuring that resources are aligned to support student success and long-term district sustainability.”
“The work ahead requires not only strong governance, but also deep engagement with the community we serve,” Collins-Adams said. “We are committed to providing quality schools, a solid budget, clean audits and a return to full accreditation.”
According to the board, it is “equally focused on preparing SLPS for a future shaped by evolving enrollment patterns, shifting community needs and the imperative to deliver high-quality educational experiences for every student.”
Board leadership also “will emphasize the importance of working collaboratively to address issues that have affected the district over time — while also acknowledging that some of these matters remain active concerns today.”
