Angela L. Starks has been announced as interim CEO of Annie Malone Children and Family Service Center, filling in for Richard L. King, who retired recently.

Starks is a 30-year veteran of Annie Malone , most recently serving as chief operating officer. She brings a significant amount of experience and knowledge in program management, counseling and therapy, event planning and fundraising.

She will continue to serve as Annie Malone’s COO, overseeing all company financial matters and other COO responsibilities during the interim period. 

“We recognize that this change in leadership is unexpected news for everyone associated with Annie Malone, but we have a strong and familiar leader driving the organization,” said Delsie Boyd, chairman of the Board of Directors.

“The board recognizes the substantial value that Angela has contributed to the organization over the past two decades in all areas of the center. She has worked diligently to improve the quality of life for children and families in Annie Malone’s care.” 

Starks has seen hundreds of children and families served through the center’s child maltreatment and crisis intervention services, transitional living and therapeutic school to name a few. 

“I accept the position of interim CEO with the clear goal to move Annie Malone forward reconnecting with the community as we continue to strengthen and stabilize children and families,” Starks said.

Although, the center’s current programs and services remain the heart of Annie Malone, Starks looks forward to offering a variety of community-based programs, including after-school youth and job training programs.
