With the goal of helping to put more money in low-income taxpayers’ pockets, the VITA Program prepares taxes free of charge for families who earn $35,000 or less and live in the 63106, 63107, 63113, 63115 and 63147 zip code areas.
Sponsored by Grace Hill Settlement House and The Youth and Family Center, the tax preparation assistance is part of the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program.
Services are available until April 17. Appointments are necessary for assistance, and can be made by calling The Youth and Family Center at 314-231-0404.
Taxpayers should bring:
* All W-2s and 1099s (if any)
* A copy of 2006 tax refund
* A copy of your check for direct deposit refund
* Amount of advanced child credit payment (if any)
* Proof of childcare expenses
* Social Security Cards or individual taxpayer ID for all members
of the family
* If filing a joint return, both spouses must attend
