Washington University is ranked seventh, among large institutions, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis is 11th among the most productive small research universities, according to a list released this week by the Academic Analytics’ Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index.

Those included in the small research university category had fewer than 15 doctoral programs; UMSL has 13.

The two universities were the only Missouri institutions listed in the top research university indexes. The ranking measures the scholarly productivity of faculty based on their publications, citations and financial and honorary awards. The index compiles overall institutional rankings on 50 large schools and 61 smaller research universities.
