Home loan mortgage partnership formed
Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, through its Wells Fargo Housing Foundation, recently contributed $50,000 to the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis to support homeownership initiatives. The funds will be used to assist the 100 with their homebuyer education for low-to-moderate income homebuyers in the St. Louis community.
According to Jim Tatum, president of the St. Louis Chapter of 100 Black Men, “The services that this contribution provides will assist the 100 in furthering a vital part of its ‘Four for the Future’ and its commitment to the citizens of the greater St. Louis Metropolitan Area.”
The 100 and Wells Fargo have also partnered to produce a talk radio show on WGNU on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon. This program provides the community insight into home ownership and finances. Jacque Land and Laraine Davis co-host this event.
“At the heart of this support is the Wells Fargo belief that we can be only as successful as the local communities where we do business,” said Laraine Davis, a home mortgage consultant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage based in St. Louis.
“We recognize the importance of supporting local initiatives for first-time low- and moderate-income homebuyers so these families can realize the dream of homeownership.”
The 100 has framed “Four For the Future” initiatives on Mentoring, Education, Health and Wellness and Economic Development and started a campaign to build a St. Louis headquarters to house these and many other programs; the ground-breaking took place March 7. The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage’s shared interest in providing real estate opportunities through homebuyer education is the basis of their community partnership.
