The St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation will award Bhrandon Beasley, Janay Marsh, Eva Belle, Monica Audrain, Ashley Barnett and Bruce Suber full, four-year college scholarships for the fall of 2006. The six awards are worth an estimated total of more than $270,000.

The recipients will be formally recognized at the Foundation’s annual National City Scholarship Awards Banquet at noon on Saturday, June 10 at the St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Complex, located at 2012 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.

“Receiving a scholarship of this magnitude means the world to me and my family,” said Beasley, a senior at McCluer North High School, who will receive the Foundation’s AT&T Scholarship to Tuskegee University. “I never dreamed of being able to attend Tuskegee on a full scholarship.”

Earl Wilson, President of the St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation, said, “We are proud to recognize and offer assistance to students who have the desire, commitment and work ethic for a higher level of learning.”

Beasley’s four-year scholarship to Tuskegee University is the largest award of the six and is estimated to be worth more than $87,000. Marsh, also of McCluer North, will receive the Sodexho Scholarship to Lincoln University; Audrain, of Beaumont High School, will receive the Ameren Scholarship to attend Harris-Stowe State University; Barnett will be awarded the Hardee’s Scholarship to Harris-Stowe; and Suber was awarded the Andy’s Seasoning Scholarship to Lincoln University.

In addition, the Foundation will award the American Family Insurance Scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) to Belle, who is an upcoming graduate of Beaumont High School. The American Family Insurance Scholarship will be presented in honor of Darwin Davis who passed away in April. Davis was an alumnus of UAPB and a long-time supporter of the Gateway Classic. Belle’s scholarship award is estimated at $57,000.

Also during the event, past and present scholarship recipients will be acknowledged. For additional information regarding the banquet or scholarship program, please contact the Gateway Classic office at (314) 621-1994.
