One hour a week of your time could open up a world of learning for a child who needs to strengthen skills in reading.

Hazelwood School District is seeking additional volunteers for the OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring program.

OASIS tutors, who are typically age 50+ work one-on-one with children in grades kindergarten through four throughout the school year using a curriculum designed to build reading and language skills. This extra help and attention also increases the child’s self-esteem and fosters a positive attitude toward learning.

Training for new OASIS volunteers will take place on Wednesday, September 27 and Friday, September 29 from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the boardroom of the district administration building, located at 15955 New Halls Ferry Road in Florissant. Volunteers must attend both sessions. Lunch will be provided.

To reserve your space at the training, call (314) 953-5045.
