The Missouri Retired Teachers Association (MRTA) will hold its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 12 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, 415 W. Mc Carty, Jefferson City.

A Silent Auction will start at 7 a.m.; registration and reception for the MRTA Distinguished Retiree of the Year and the 11 regional finalists will be held in the Atrium Lobby at 9 a.m. MRTA 2006 Distinguished Retiree of the Year, Ruby N. Vincent, of Aurora, MO, Region 10, Lawrence County Unit, will be honored.

The General Session, with President Ron Marsch, from Jefferson City, presiding will begin at 10 a.m. with the theme: “MRTA – In Motion and Making Connections”.

The Keynote Speaker, Megan Hookey, National Coordinator for the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA) – AARP’s Educator Community will speak on “Membership – Everyone’s Responsibility.”

A luncheon, honoring the MRTA Regional Distinguished Retirees of the Year, will start at 11:45 a.m. The MRTA singing retirees, with Alyse Stoll and Elaine Eiserer, both of Raytown, directing, will perform.

A special program will be offered: Staying Sharp (Tips for Improving Your Memory) presented by Michael Patterson, Portfolio Manager, Strategy Development Department, National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA). Adopted from the national Staying Sharp Program, which is collaboration between NRTA and the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives, this multi-media presentation offers insights from the nation’s top neuroscientists on how our brain changes as we age and specific information on how to improve our memory.
