The SIUE East St. Louis Charter School will hold its sixth annual Commencement Program at 6:30 pm Wednesday, June 1 in Building D at the East St. Louis Higher Education Campus, 601 James R. Thompson Blvd. in East St. Louis.

Dr. Linda Renee Baker, of the Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, will be the guest speaker. Baker guides the Institute’s efforts of transition planning for students with disabilities, career awareness for minority students and leadership development for African-American young men in East St. Louis.

Participating in the graduation will be SIUE Chancellor Vaughn Vandegrift, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Sharon K. Hahs, SIUE East St. Louis Center Director Patricia A. Harrison and East St. Louis Charter School Program Director Anthony Neal.

The Charter School Graduating Class of 2005 include: DeMario Anthony Brown, Brandonn Keon Butchee, Ramires Julian Castillo, George Raynard Dozier, LaRhonda Michelle Duncan, Keisha Marie Green, Myiesha Renee’ Holt, Dominique La’Shay Ingram, Erica Latisha Johnson, Jessica Maria Johnson, Terrance Allen Johnson, Edwin Marquis Jones, Shakauna Graciella Jones, Christina Antoinette Lewis, Chasity Bre’Shay Love, Ashley Sierra Moore, Carla Takeya LaShawn Moore, Shawn Desmond Morrison, Kennard Jazz Perkins, Temeka Victoria Goldie Rucker, Christopher Diondrict Rushing, Jasmone Raysean Ward.

All of the graduates will either enter college or the workforce in the fall.

“Our students have worked hard this year, and their efforts have paid off,” Neal said. “I’m proud of each and every one of them and wish them every success in their future endeavors.”
