The International Master’s of Business Administration program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis continues to grow with the addition of two international institutions.
UMSL officials recently signed partnerships with the University of Vienna in Austria and Kyoto University in Japan. Other university partners in the program are Nanjing University in China and Robert Schumann University in Strasbourg, France.
The two-year graduate program began this fall. UMSL students spend their first year studying abroad at one of the partnering universities. During the second year, students return to UMSL to complete their degree. Through the consortium, international students from the partnering schools also will attend UMSL during their second year.
Lucy Zhang received her undergraduate degree in international business at UMSL. She is now in her first semester of the International MBA program at Nanjing University.
“I feel very lucky to be one of first UMSL students to participate in the program. The opportunity to come to China for a year has allowed me to see places I never would have and to make friends with people from all over the world,” Zhang said.
She said the experience has been wonderful, and she looks forward to next year when her Chinese classmates will follow her back to UMSL.
Thomas Eyssell, associate dean and director of graduate programs for the College of Business Administration at UMSL, said the program is taking off. The college already has received numerous applications from international students.
“The International MBA program is unique in that all of the participants not only study in a foreign country, but also complete an international internship. Thus, at the end of their program, they have gained academic knowledge, exposure to a different culture and real-world business experience in that culture.” Eyssell said.
The International MBA program complements the university’s undergraduate International Business Program, which has been ranked in the top 20 nationally by U.S. News & World Report for the last three years.
