Jason Marquis was his “bad” self on Tuesday night in Cincinnati.
Marquis allowed four earned runs on nine hits and lasted only 2 2/3 innings as the Cardinals fell, 10-3, to the Reds
Manager Tony La Russa then questioned his starting pitcher’s mindset during the game.
I don’t know what he was doing today,” La Russa said. “He’s out there just firing. I don’t know what got into him. He was out there just rearing back, throwing as hard as he could. I’m not sure why he thought that was the way to go about it.”
The series resumes tonight with Chris Carpenter on the mound against Reds’ ace Aaron Harang.
