The Central West End will once again turn into an outdoor stage for some of St. Louis’ top musicians when the 3rd annual CWE Jazz and Blues Festival returns Saturday, August 15. The free one‑day event runs from 1 to 7 p.m. at Euclid and Laclede Avenues and is hosted by the Euclid South Community Improvement District and Park Central Development.
The festival invites residents and visitors to enjoy live jazz, blues and brass while dining al fresco at neighborhood restaurants including Saigon Cafe, Wildflower Saloon, Sushi Koi, Brasserie by Niche and others. Lawn chairs are welcome.
“We’re proud to host more than 4.6 million visitors in the Central West End annually,” said Abdul Abdullah, Executive Director of Park Central Development. “While our ‘welcome’ sign is illuminated year‑round, this summer music festival is a unique way for us to highlight and promote the neighborhood.”
This year’s lineup brings together six acts that reflect the depth and range of St. Louis’ music scene. The afternoon opens with The Ryan Marquez Trio, a group known for tight arrangements and a modern jazz sound rooted in tradition. They’re followed by Josiah Burton and The Blue Notes, whose straight‑ahead jazz style leans into melodic horn lines and rhythmic swing shaped by the city’s long jazz lineage.
The Dhoruba Collective takes the stage next with a fusion‑driven set that blends jazz with funk, soul and experimental elements. Dee Jazz follows with a mix of blues‑infused jazz vocals and instrumentation, moving between soulful ballads and groove‑centered arrangements. The Red and Black Brass Band brings second‑line energy inspired by New Orleans street‑parade tradition, and the evening closes with Lamar Harris’ Georgia Mae, a horn‑driven big‑band ensemble offering layered harmonies and classic jazz textures.
The festival stage will also feature DJ Scooter Brown and will be hosted by Tee Parks.
“The CWE is bursting with St. Louis culture, culinary experiences and creative entrepreneurialism,” Abdullah said. “Free events like this further reinforce why so many people choose the CWE as a vibrant place to live, work and play.”
