The Broadway return of Lorraine Hansberry’s classic “A Raisin the Sun” could come away from the 2014Tony as a major winner.

Tony nominations were announced this morning in New York and the play has the potential to take home five awards.

In addition to “Best Revival of a Play,” nominations include “Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play” nomination for LaTanya Richardson Jackson. She will be up against Audra McDonald for “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill.” Co-stars Anika Noni Rose an Sophie Okonedo will compete for a “Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play”for their respective roles.

Kenny Leon is in the running for “Best Direction of a Play” as well.

Broadway’s latest revival of “A Raisin in the Sun” also stars Denzel Washington and Sean Patrick Thomas.

The 68th Annual Tony Awards will air live on CBS June 8.
