Singer Alicia Keys is doing her part to help talented teens continue their education. The singer has teamed up with The Open Doors Scholars Program to offer $5,000 scholarships to students from four cities across the country. The four winners will be selected from Jacksonville, New Orleans, Atlanta and New York City.
Scholarship winners will serve as representatives for the organization and are required to perform community service each semester. “We’re just looking for standout students who are definitely college-bound and need a little bit of help financially to really achieve their dreams,” Keys told The Associate Press. The Open Doors Scholarship Program is a part of Frum the Ground Up, a non-profit organization that was founded by Keys’ road manager, D.J. Walton. For more information, visit www.ftgu.org
