I am going to slap the taste buds out of the next person’s mouth who refers to the victims of Hurricane Katrina as refugees. The definition of a refugee is one who flees in search of refuge, as in times of war, political oppression, or religious persecution. Refugees are normally associated with people fleeing from one country to another. By all means, the victims of Hurricane Katrina are not refugees. They are tax-paying American citizens who are protected by the constitution, though one can say George Bush’s politics probably slowed his response. PLEASE, for goodness’ sake, stop calling them refugees.
