The country’s only complete rap band, The Roots, brings their funked-up,” conscious flow to town with songstress and “floacist,” Floetry. The Roots foundation is Black Thought, emcee, ?uestlove, drums, Lenoard “Hub” Hubbard, bass and Kamal Gray, keyboards. Support musicians are: Frankie Knuckles (percussion); Captain Kirk (guitar) and Martin Luther (vocals, guitar). Floetry’s “poetic delivery with musical intent” is the creative liquefaction of singer-songwriter Marsha Ambrosius and emcee-songwriter Natalie Stewart. The London duo’s exemplary fusion of soul and spoken word and gained them international acclaim and songwriting credits that include Michael Jackson’s “Butterfly,” Jill Scott’s “Love Again” and Glen Lewis’ “Simple Things,” “Lonely,” “This Love” and “Take You High.”
