Jazz at the Bistro is proud to host the return of Mardra and Reggie Thomas for their annual Valentine’s Day concert series. While Mardra and Reggie are both master performers in their own right, but watching them perform together is always beautiful, ultra-stunning and entertaining experience.
Vocalist Mardra Thomas has appeared at scores of jazz festivals around the country and has toured internationally as a vocalist as well. A diverse performer, Thomas is also well-respected for her exquisite stage performances as an actress in various productions. Her hauntingly realistic portrayal of Billie Holiday is featured as an ongoing educational performance at the Sheldon Concert Hall.
Pianist/organist Reggie Thomas is an associate professor at Southern Illinois University n Edwardsville (SIU-E) and is a highly sought after clinician. Thomas, who holds a Master’s in Music degree from SIU-E, recently taught at the Lincoln Center’s 5th Annual Band Director’s Academy. As a pianist, Thomas has toured internationally and has shared the stage with the likes of Karrin Allyson, Slide Hampton, Oliver Lake, David “Fathead” Newman, Nicholas Payton, Clark Terry and more. He recently took home an Excellence in Arts award presented at the Arts and Education Council’s 14th Annual St. Louis Arts Awards.
