On the Curb has been providing exemplary crowd-pleasing live jazz for almost 8 years. The group originally formed when Sylvester Mabins (saxophonist)
and Daniel Brown (drummer) joined forces while playing in Clayton High School’s big band. Syl and Danny, along with several of their jazzmates, then started a small jazz combo. Though young, they have showcased their talents throughout the St. Louis area. A highlight for the group was their performance at the Whitiker Jazz Festival held at the St. Louis Botanical Gardens.
They soon made a name for themselves and assembled a funky quartet called On the Curb. The four-piece band is rounded out by Chris Burchett (guitar) and Theo Harden (bass). Although members of the group have changed over the years, their consistently energetic and ear-pleasing performances continue to be On The Curb’s trademark.
