The Cameron Youth Chamber Orchestra will have a holiday concert, Holiday Strings that is free admission for everyone at 2nd Baptist Church, 2030 Clayton Road on Sunday December 12.
They provide youth with classical and string training with quality instruments and allow students from the St. Louis Metropolitan area learn Classical music too. Cameron Youth Chamber Orchestra specializes in teaching children how to read music and how to play sting instruments.
Members range in grade level from eighth grade to high school. Last year Cameron Youth Chamber Orchestra introduced a program for beginning students’ ages ranging from eight through 11 who never played an instrument.
Music Director of the Cameron Youth Chamber Orchestra, James McKay Jr. is one of the original members of the Cameron Youth Chamber Orchestra.
McKay sees the Cameron organization as an enhancement program for musicians plus it helps students learn about Classical music.
“It gives me an opportunity to explore minorities to Classical music,” McKay said. “I’m able to share what I learn.”
