Reps for Mary J. Blige deny that the singer punched her husband Kendu Isaacs at a promotional event for her new CD. Publicist Karynne Tencer told The NY Daily News that Blige was trying to stop a brawl between Isaacs and her brother.
“Mary was not fighting with her husband,” said Tencer. “Her husband and her brother got into an altercation that turned into a fight. Mary went to break up the fight.”
Club security helped the Grammy Award winner pull the men apart, who also disputed reports that Isaacs’ lip was bleeding.
Her publicist also denied the singer screamed ‘What are you gonna do, Chris Brown me?’ at her husband.
She never mentioned Chris Brown,” Tencer said. “Mary and Kendu went home together.”
The Daily News also reported that after sources claimed she had smacked Isaacs because he was supposedly flirting with a waitress, she decided to set the record straight.
A video of the incident has hit the web and footage suggests that the rumors of the altercation were not unfounded. It wasn’t a closed fist, but clip shows bilge smacking her husband at the event while bodyguards attempt to shield the public outburst from guests at the event.
