St. Louis, the nation’s “toughest crowd,” booed comedian-actor Charlie Murphy during his Friday night appearance at the Fox Theatre.

Murphy was on the bill with headliner Mike Epps, special guest Dominique and local opener Kenny Howell.

The other comedians kept the audience in stitches, but Murphy could only draw heckles and boos.

“Tell a joke,” yelled one heckler as Murphy told the story of his frustration with Post 911 airport practices. Murphy retorted, but the hecklers’ friends joined him and started booing, setting off a roomful of boos in Fox Theatre.

Murphy then swore at the audience members, threw his microphone to the floor, gave the crowd the finger and walked off stage.

“I already got my money,” he said leaving.

Murphy is the younger brother of famed comedian/actor Eddie Murphy. He is most known for his comedic work on the “Chappelle Show.”
