VH1 has tapped Bille Woodruff to direct a sequel to the 2002 film “Drumline,” which the network is considering as a possible backdoor pilot to a TV series.
The film’s original star Nick Cannon will serve as an executive producer for this project, titled “Drumline 2: A New Beat,” reports Deadline.com.
The story focuses on strong-willed and talented Dani Bolton, who defies her parents, bypassing Spelman College for SEU so she can join the Rolling Red Thunder Drumline.
Fox Television Studios is co-financing the TV film, co-written by Karen Gist and Regina Hicks.
