Oprah Winfrey was said to be furious when she learned that Aretha Franklin would be granting her first interview following a ‘health scare’ to Wendy Williams. The two chatted about a host of topics during a special afternoon tea at Franklin’s home in Detroit.
“This is the final season of her show, and she’s been pushing to land all the big ‘gets’ out there,” a source told the National Enquirer. “Oprah is embarrassed that Aretha chose Wendy, who is a relative newcomer in the TV talk show world.”
While Winfrey gives Williams credit for snagging the much-coveted sit-down with Aretha, she is said to be “steaming.”
Aretha underwent surgery in December but has never publicly revealed the nature of her health issues. During the Grammy Awards live broadcast last month, Franklin shocked fans by appearing to have lost nearly 100 pounds.
During her talk with Williams, Franklin politely skirted over her health scare, but discussed her weight loss – which Franklin says is the result of a healthier lifestyle.
