This June, soul vocalist Ledisi is releasing her first book, “Better Than Alright: Finding Peace, Love & Power” and kicking off the summer with a fabulous line up of concert dates around the country.
She and Eric Benet start their “Be Good to Yourself” tour on June 23 in Hampton, VA – the show will land in St. Louis on July 13 at The Pageant. The tour stops in more than 20 major cities and wraps in Atlanta on Aug. 5.
As far as her new book, Ledisi opened up with Essence Magazine about the process.
“I’ve been writing for years and I probably have about five books written, but this was a challenge because it was a different way of writing for me,” Ledisi said. “The book is about all the things that inspire me. It’s just describing my life and how I got to where I am; the obstacles, challenges, triumphs, and all the people that lifted me to be Ledisi. It’s pieces and fragments of my life, but it’s also other things that inspire me like affirmations I’ve written, affirmations I’ve read and other people’s words from First Lady Michelle Obama, President Obama, Bishop TD Jakes and Octavia Butler.”
