St. Louis-based reality show “BAPs” has ended a few episodes short of it’s original six-show run.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch pop music critic Kevin Johnson first broke the news of the show’s cancellation.
According to him, the cast received e-mails alerting that the show would end after four episodes.
The news came a week after the show had been moved from its original 9 p.m. Wednesday night slot to 10 p.m.
The show received plenty of buzz on urban blogs and social media – though plenty of it was negative – but BAPs must have failed to capture a viewing audience.
Heavy promotion of the show from the Lifetime Network subsided after the first episode.
After the “BAPs” premiere was met with harsh criticism and backlash from the black community in St. Louis and abroad, Lifetime appeared to shift focus to “Bring It,” a show about an African American competitive dance team.
