Singer Bruno Mars made history Sunday night with a halftime performance that attracted the largest audience in the history of the Super Bowl with 115.3 million viewers, Fox announced Monday, citing Nielsen data.
That figure beats the prior record of 114 million set by Madonna two years ago and the 110.8 million who tuned in to see Beyoncé last year.
It has also rippled his album back into the top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The album’s official sales figures, as tabulated by SoundScan, will be released on Wednesday, Feb. 5 (the same day as when the new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be unveiled).
Information from Eurweb.com, Nielson and Billboard.com contributed to this report.
