Christ Deliverance Ministry will host their third annual CDM Mind and Body 5K health and fitness event Saturday, May 24. Held at Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School (701 North Spring Ave.), the event continues to grow as the St. Louis community embraces healthier lifestyle changes.

“Christ Deliverance Ministry is dedicated to fighting obesity,” said

Cynthia Ringo, pastor of Christ Deliverance Ministry. “We hope to capitalize on our mission to transform the St. Louis community by inspiring, leading and supporting those who are changing their lives by getting healthy with Mind and Body this year and for years to come.”

Briant Mitchell of BKM Boot Camp leads the 5K race through midtown’s historic Grand Center beginning at 8 a.m. Both runners and walkers are encouraged to participate. The first-place finisher will receive a $500 prize. It costs $30 and you must register online prior to the event. All other events are free and open to public. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. and on-site registration will be available.

Mitchell will also lead the fitness challenge. KSDK News Channel 5’s Nichole Berlie will host the healthy living seminar featuring keynote speaker Dr. Jamila Owens-Todd, a Naturopathic Doctor. She will present “Food as Your Medicine: Creating Your Holistic Menu.”

This year, Mind and Body welcomes Ronald McDonald Care Mobile’s vision clinic, which will provide free, on-the-spot eye exams to children. The mobile vision clinic is staffed by licensed optometrists and enables early diagnosis and treatment, which are important for maintaining good vision, eye health and the prevention of vision loss. Representatives from DePaul Hospital, a sponsor of Mind and Body, will be on hand offering free health screenings, such as cholesterol checks.

Mind and Body will also feature various vendors spotlighting healthy lifestyle choices and photo opportunities with St. Louis Cardinals mascot Fredbird and the St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders. Mind and Body is sponsored by Whole Foods Market, Crazy Bowls and Wraps, and Office Depot.
