Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington has portrayed both athlete and coach in movie roles.

Now he is playing the role of father of possible NFL player.

The St. Louis Rams have agreed to terms with 10 rookie free agents, including Washington’s son, running back John David Washington from Morehouse.

Washington made a name for himself at Morehouse, ending his career as the school’s single-game (242 yards), single-season (1,198 yards), and career (3,699 yards) leading rusher. He earned all-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first-team honors in 2005 as he was the conference’s leading rusher. Washington earned SIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors six times throughout his career, including September 17, 2005, when he also earned National Player of the Week honors from D2Football.com.

There is no word if he plans to pursue an acting career after his football days are over – which could be sometime this summer because he remains a longshot to make an NFL roster.
