The last few days have been pretty sweet for Eye Candy Model Management and MPAC, producer of the monthly Eye Candy Party, now in its third year.
Aside from crowning Hailey Jones Miss ’08 Eye Candy Spokesmodel and Michelle Freiner Miss January ’08, MPAC threw a viewing party for last year’s Spokesmodel B. Skye for her TV debut.
B. Skye landed a part on The Flavor of Love 3, which debuted Monday on VH1.
The popular reality show, which some call cheesy, minstrel-like and unbelievable, set a VH1 all-time record last year by averaging 3.3 million viewers.
With numbers like that, B. Skye said she’s sure she’ll get something out of it along with her undisclosed check amount.
The show stars former Public Enemy hypeman Flavor Flav, known for his big clock necklace emblem and peculiar, dwarfish looks and actions.
The show is making money, though Flav said this is the last season he will do the ratings-heavy show.
Several of her family, friends and fellow Eye Candy models watched the show’s debut during a viewing party thrown by MPAC Downtown at Red on Washington Blvd.
B. Skye performed her last Eye Candy Spokemodel duties at the Eye Candy Party Grand Finale Friday at The Loft. And while she feels compelled by reciprocity, to support MPAC, her sights are set on TV land.
“Being an Eye Candy model and spokesperson has really helped me with my career goal and has been a stepping stone for what I plan to do – I’ll miss it, but it’s a lot hard work and you have to stay dedicated and motivated,” said B. Skye, who goes by the name Saint Lewis on The Flavor of Love 3.
B. Skye, one of the original Eye Candy models as Miss May ’06, was approached by the show’s casting directors while performing a promotion set up for MPAC and Eye Candy Model Management back in October.
B. Skye said she hadn’t ever thought of going on the show and didn’t go to win Flava Flav’s heart, but realized it as a great opportunity.
“I went to get to know Flava Flav and do some networking,” B. Sky said.
The original Eye Candy Model said the show is just as wild as it looks on TV and that just about everyone else is out to win at all costs.
“It was crazy, but it was fun living in a big mansion, eating anything you want, no bills and meeting good friends,” B. Skye said.
B. Skye is the first Eye Candy model to land a national gig through the fruits of the company, and this score is right up her alley.
“TV is my goal – I’m not a model so much as I am a personality,” she said.
“I have more personality than any picture can hold,” B. Skye said.
She may be jumping off the runway, but she hit it like a pro as she entered her private viewing party Monday at Red on Washington Downtown.
B. Skye said the strut upon her entry was just her way of having fun and making fun of herself instead acting Hollywood.
“It was my party, so why not have a little fun?” B. Sky said, adding that appearing on the show won’t change her and that she already has other plans in action that she can’t talk about.
B. Skye said she couldn’t reveal too much about show, but Mo Spoon had no problem saying, “I’m sure she and most of those women don’t like Flava Flav and that it’s a career move.”
While Mo Spoon gave B. Skye credit for grinding and being a total package, deserving of all her accomplishments as an Eye Candy spokesmodel, he said MPAC and EC Model Management does what they can for the models.
“I ask them what they want to work toward, and I try to help them,” Mo Spoon said.
Mo Spoon’s sister Maranda Witherspoon, who runs EC Modeling Management, said B. Skye has a star quality and is another person who is helping to keep St. Louis on the map.
B. Skye the companies make up the best management team she’s ever had.
“They’ve had my best interest at heart at all times, and I never had to second-guess any of their decisions,” B. Skye said.
She also didn’t second-guess their decisions for her successor and the first Eye Candy model of this year.
“I think Hailey was the best choice,” B. Skye said. “She has the image, looks and personality, and she will be good for MPAC TV, which films and airs the Eye Candy parties.”
As for Miss January ’08, B. Skye said she has seen Freiner out promoting and that she’s pretty, driven and can rock a runway.
“I think she’s a good addition to the Eye Candy Models,” B. Skye said.
Freiner said she feels right at home with the models because she has a lot in common with them.
“They have great personalities, talent, ambition and drive and people with similar interests click,” said Miss January ’08.
Freiner ran for Miss January ’07, a crown that went to popular promoter Pinky, who didn’t compete in the finale because of out out-of-town activities.
Freiner said the month of January is important to her, which is why she waited until this month to compete again.
“It’s number one – the first month, it’s my birthday month and Capricorns are known to be leaders,” she said looking down the road to next year’s spokesmodel competition.
