Harris-Stowe State University invites alumni, students, faculty, staff and the St. Louis community to come celebrate Homecoming 2008: Building Beyond our Hopes and Dreams.

The Majestic Assembly, Miss Harris-Stowe State University Ashley Yarbrough and Mr. Harris-Stowe State University Ervin Williams will be crowned at an Old Hollywood-themed coronation on Thursday, October 9, at 7 p.m. in the Main Auditorium, and the excitement will really soar on Friday, October 10, with the HSSU Homecoming Parade, which will travel east down Market Street at Compton Avenue, to Market and 13th Street.

Interim Superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools and 1962 Harris Teachers College graduate Dr. John Wright will preside as Grand Marshal.

Additional VIPs include the Honorable Robin Wright-Jones, Missouri State Representative; the Honorable Francis Slay, Mayor of the City of St. Louis; the Honorable Michael McMillan, St. Louis City License Collector; and Alderwoman Kacie Starr Triplett, to name a few. Special parade performances and appearances include the St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders, the HSSU Honeycombs, the HSSU Drumline and multiple local high school bands.

Friday evening, the students will enjoy a New Hollywood theme, “Anything Goes,” at their Student Dance, where Guest Performer V.I.C. will rap his smash hit “Get Silly.”

The exhilarating week concludes Saturday, October 11, with the Alumni Association’s 10th annual Gold Gala, a black-tie scholarship dinner and dance at the Renaissance St. Louis Hotel-Airport.
