Queen Elizabeth asked St. Louis native Denise Thimes to come to the British Embassy Tuesday night and perform.

The multi-talented Thimes will also rub elbows with Prince Philip, President and Mrs. Bush and a host of other dignitaries.

Thimes has established an international name for herself in both music and theatre. Still, how does a single parent from St. Louis make it on Queen Elizabeth’s radar? The British Ambassador’s wife saw her perform at the Kuwait embassy a few months ago. Thimes told KSDK-TV. “When Lady Manning was asked by her husband who should we get for entertainment, she said Denise Thimes.”

Thimes explained, “I’m just as grateful doing a benefit for Annie Malone Children and Family Center or Harris-Stowe State University or my church as I am for singing for the queen.

Thimes will be back in St. Louis for a special Mother’s Day Concert at the Sheldon this Sunday, which also features Clark Terry. For more information about the concert, call Metrotix at 314-534-1111.
