Police told CNN that report that “Master Chef” runner up Joshua Marks was found dead in a south side Chicago alley Friday night. He reportedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Marks was 26.
At the time of his death Police spokesman John Mirabelli told CNN, the possibility of suicide had not been ruled out by investigators because of Marks previously acknowledgement of a bipolar disorder.
A spokesman for the Cook County, Illinois, medical examiner said Sunday that his death was ruled a suicide.
Marks, who took second place in the final round of the reality competition’s third season, was arrested just three months ago after a scuffle with multiple Chicago police officers. The Chicago Tribune reported the story that Marks told the police he was possessed by “MasterChef” judge Gordon Ramsay, who turned into God.
He was charged with aggravated battery in July because of the incident – which involved police officers who were called to the scene after he suffered serious facial wounds from a self-inflicted gunshot, according to his lawyer.
Ramsay took to Twitter after learning of Mark’s death posting, “Just heard the devastating news about Josh Marks. My thoughts are with his family & friends at this tragic time.”
His family told CNN that they blame the lack of mental health treatment facilities and the easy access to guns as factors in his tragic death.
