By 11 a.m. this morning, 11 of Nelly’s new CD Brass Knuckles had already been sold at Vintage Vinyl in the Loop in University City, which Nelly claims as his old stomping ground. The CD sells there for $12. 95 and has 14 songs on it. Fans who show up to the Sky Box – Nelly’s co-owned sports bar on Landing – by 9 p.m. won’t have to shell out a dime to listen live to the sounds of the highly anticipated CD.

The disk sold like hotcakes this morning at Vintage Vinyl. And artist and store clerk Tony Renner said the number of CDs sold this by noon is pretty good (dollar) sign. “It did very well for a weekday morning – it’s going to blow out of here on the weekend,” Renner said. Kim Browning said she swooped by the loop to grab her copy this morning before they ran out. She likes radio-released Stepped on my Jz featuring Jermaine Dupri and Party People featuring Fergie. Browning said Nelly’s collabs with other artists produce very good music, and she’d love to see the buffed, pretty boy rapper work with his like, L.L. Cool J. Browning’s wish is Brass Knuckles’ command: unbeknownst to the loyal Nelly fan and supporter, Nelly not only teamed with L.L. by Rapper T.I. as well on the album’s number two song, Hold On. Local fan/supporter Shunta Wade, who stopped through Vintage Vinyl this morning, said she had man reasons to pick up the CD. “I just love this man, his music, he one of our own, he talented, he put us on the map, he always brings the heat and he’s always giving back,” Wade said. Of the radio-released song, she said she likes Stepped on my J’z and Body on Me, featuring Nelly’s bombshell boo Ashanti and Akon. Check back tomorrow for the breaking news on Nelly’s Platinum Party tonight at the Sky Box.
