10th Street Gallery owners Pat and Solomon Thurman were thrilled with the response to son Lance Omar Thurman’s Nostalgia Exhibit opening on March 16. Lance, a fine art photographer presented his artistic talents in multiple dimensions. A noteworthy conversation piece in this collection is a framed and painted Volkswagen interior door that is hanging in the gallery window. Other remarkable works on display include a picture of “Kalimu Endesha,” one of St. Louis’ original Infrared Rockers, a Reggae group from the 70s. Lance’s iconic photo “Washington Ave. in the Making” was also a big hit. Pat says in order to keep the Nostalgia theme real, Lance used a large format camera and photo film.

The Thurman team utilized professional talent for the exhibit’s 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s, period photos including;  Seviin Li (Model, R&B singer and TV personality), Models; Blu Bolden, Jameelah, Nyna and Jennifer. Hair and Stylists; Rezults by Becky J, Desiree Lyons and Tamika Sheri. Makeup artists on deck were Tara Lowery and Becky Nettie.

Photos of civil rights activist Percy Green, Pruitt-Igoe, Sara Lou’s and the Eads Bridge are just a few of the symbolic icons in the exhibit. The Nostalgia Exhibit runs through April, 21. Call 436-1806 for gallery hours or to request a private showing.
