According to allhiphop.com, a Brooklyn inmate has confessed to robbing and shooting Tupac Shakur in 1994. He also fingered longtime hip-hop executive James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond for involvement in the shooting.
Dexter Isaac, a former friend of Rosemond, came forward this week with news that has shaken up the hip-hop world. Currently serving a life sentence for murder, robbery and various other offenses, Isaac claims he revealed the information after Rosemond told repeated lies, both related and unrelated to the crime.
“I want to apologize to his family [Tupac Shakur] and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman],” Dexter Isaac told AllHipHop.com from prison. “I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie’s] mothers some closure.”
In 1994, Shakur survived a robbery despite being shot five times. In Issac’s statement, he claims he was the gunman and was paid by Rosemond for his services.
“In 1994, James Rosemond hired me to rob 2Pac Shakur at the Quad Studio,” said Isaac in a written statement. “He gave me $2,500, plus all the jewelry I took, except for one ring, which he wanted for himself. It was the biggest of the two diamond rings that we took. He said he wanted to put the stone in a new setting for his girlfriend at the time, Cynthia Ried. I still have as proof the chain that we took that night in the robbery.”
Isaac also hinted the Rosemond and Sean “P Diddy” Combs may have been in Shakur’s murder in 1996. However he declined to discuss the issue in depth.
Investigators are reportedly taking the confession seriously and plan to interview Isaac for additional information.
Rosemond, is currently still on the run from federal prosecutors and is facing federal cocaine conspiracy charges.
