Hip-hop scenester Alice Prince (A.P.) got some face time with Juelz Santana when he was in the Lou recently at BOBQP’s studio and rolled some tape for us.
Juelz was the first Diplomat after Cam’ron to go solo. He got known through his raps, his pretty-boy face, and his association with the Dips. Juelz has a huge following in STL. Better, A.P. said the brother is down-to-earth. His album drops November 22, and after a sneak preview A.P. said the album is hot. “I would definitely give it a platinum star,” girlfriend said.
Check out their interview:
A.P.: How long have you been in the music industry?
Juelz: For about eight years. I started off rapping. You will not find any old pictures of me dancing.
A.P.: Who are your major influences?
Juelz: My mother. She raised four boys. She has drive. That’s where I get my drive. She raised four boys and made sure we were always happy.
A.P.: What do you dislike most about the music industry?
Juelz: People not being themselves!
A.P.: Do you want to call anybody out?
Juelz: No.
A.P.: What do you like most about the music industry?
Juelz: I love being able to kick real sh*t. Staying true to who you are is important and real.
A.P.: What are you listening to?
Juelz: My own sh*t. I just got so much music right now I am trying to decide what’s going on the album. I still love Eminiem, Young Jeezy, Wayne, and of course Dip Set. I hear all of their exclusive stuff.
A.P.: What are you driving?
Juelz: What ain’t I driving. I have 2006 Corvette, GLS Benz, Yukon Denali, Nissan 2350, and a pimped out old school Deville.
A.P.: What can I tell the ladies in STL about you?
Juelz: I am here; come and get me. I love the ladies in the STL.
A.P.: So are you saying you do not have a significant other?
Juelz: I got my 2-year-old son and my mother. My son was born on my mother’s b-day.
A.P.: What advice can you give independents in STL?
Juelz: Stay on your grind and do not give up. Stay competitive.
