More than 100 national and local celebrities played to a sold-out crowd of hungry diners at Saint Louis Crisis Nursery’s 23rd Celebrity Waitresses & Waiters’ Night. More than $83,000 was raised to benefit the agency’s abuse prevention programs, which helps protect 7,000 children each year.
The event, presented by Carney’s Kids Foundation, was held at Plaza
Frontenac. Guests dined at BRIO Tuscan Grille, Canyon Café and Fleming’s
Prime Steakhouse, and enjoyed nosh & cocktails by BrickTop’s, live entertainment by local favorites, and bided on lavish silent auction items
in the mall’s Center Court.
The World Famous Olympic legend and gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee and former St. Louis Rams Aeneas Williams were sighted at BRIO Tuscan Grille working hard to dethrone Chip Walker of Wells-Fargo Advisors, who was the 2012 Celebrity Waiter of the Year. Joyner-Kersee served guests with help from her good friend and Nursery supporter, Ivory Crockett, The World’s Fastest Man. Other event features at BRIO included live music by Perry Woods and an extravagant Tiffany & Co. raffle. BRIO Tuscan Grille was sponsored by the Ladue News.
Steps away, hundreds more guests dined at Canyon Café to the tropical sounds of Steel Drummer Nigel Thomas. It was lights, camera and action as media favorites and elected officials, including County Executive Charlie Dooley,
Mayor Sally Faith, and Sen. Tom Dempsey worked together to secure much needed funds for Crisis Nursery’s deserving children and 24-hour centers.
The eager crowd was won over with the appearance of anchor Sharon Reed of KMOV and Cam Janssen of the New Jersey Devils. Canyon Café was sponsored by The St. Louis American.
A line of vibrant-colored, exotic luxury vehicles at Fleming’s gave clue
that newlyweds Danny & Laura Kathleen Baker were on-site to serve for Crisis Nursery children. Other crowd favorites to make an appearance were Ray & Shawn Vinson, Jan & Sam Orlando, and Maureen Strasheim. Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse was sponsored by Clear Channel Media.
