Singer Tamar Braxton was among the biggest winners at the Soul Train Music Awards, which taped yesterday in Las Vegas.

Tamar Braxton was named Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and she also picked up Song of the Year for Love & War and the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award. Tamar also performed a three-song set during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Janelle Monae, who was recovering from a throat infection that delayed the start of her new tour, took home the prestigious Video of the Year Award for “Q.U.E.E.N,” her collabo with Erykah Badu.

Other winners included K. Michelle (Best New Artist), Kendrick Lamar (Best Hip-hop Artisti), Miguel (Best R&B Artist) and Robin Thicke (Song of the Year) to name a few.

In other “Soul Train Awards” news, Keith Sweat was honored with the Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award, and performed with Faith Evans. Also, R&B legend Dionne Warwick was gifted the Legend Award following tribute performances from Ron Isley, Ruben Studdard, Chrisette Michelle and Gladys Knight.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Anthony Anderson, was held at the Orleans Arena in ‘Vegas. The Soul Train Awards will air 2013 on Sunday, December 1 at 9E&P/8C on Centric & BET!
