Toyy probably won’t get much sleep tonight. It’s not that the local hip-hop diva has a big night planned for tonight. It’s that she can’t wait for tomorrow.
Tomorrow she will be one of many local artists who will answer an open casting call issued by MTV and Bad Boy Recordings. St. Louis is the second of five stops on a national casting tour for a Bad Boy record deal and spot on a new reality show, Star Maker.
Though the casting call is open, Toyy said she was contacted by a producer from MTV who was doing some advance work to make sure that premium local talent knew about the showcase.
If you think you can beat Toyy, head down to Blueberry Hill, 6504 Delmar in The Loop, tomorrow at 8 a.m. You need to bring a signed application and release (available on the MTV site) and be prepared to sing up to three songs. You may sing a cappella to a track of your choice, or with one instrument. You may be asked to perform a song of the producer’s choice.
Producers suggest artists plan to be at the audition all day and bring snacks and water. You may be asked to stay for a call back on Wednesday if you’re all that.
Details and application available at:

You can also compete by sending a video – details are on the MTV site.
