Get out your lawn chairs, beverage coolers, wine and cheese and your dancing shoes! Your Missouri History Museum’s Twilight Tuesdays are back!
Among the most frequently asked questions here at your Missouri History Museum is, “When does Twilight Tuesday begin?”
The answer is April 29! That’s when the musical duo, The Bosman Twins take to the stage. Dwayne and Dwight Bosman are veterans of the Twilight Tuesday stage but their music is always fresh.
“Rough and raw” is how these saxophone playing brothers’ music is often described. You can count on them to light up the north lawn of your Missouri History Museum with sounds that will have you tapping your feet and clapping your hands.
Week 2 of Twilight Tuesday, May 6, will be a treat also. You will rock to the sounds of Groovthang as this seven-piece band covers one of music’s most popular groups “Steely Dan.” The official name of this concert is “Showbiz Kids: A Tribute to Steely Dan.
Twilight Tuesday has become such an integral part of your Missouri History Museum’s event offerings that for most fans it is hard to imagine this time of year without the promise of rockin’ good times.
The two-hour concerts are designed to do more than entertain; they also offer an opportunity for families, friends and strangers to come together when they might otherwise not do so.
People are encouraged to introduce themselves to folks they might not meet under different circumstances. For one evening a week for 7 consecutive weeks, members of the St. Louis community can come together for a common event and common enjoyment.
The quality of the local entertainment offered on Twilight Tuesdays is second to none. On May 13, St. Louis native and blues impresario, Billy Peek brings his amazing guitar skills to the stage. Peek, who began his career playing with rock and roll legend Chuck Berry is a wonder to watch and listen to. How can you expect anything but an exciting evening from a man who was a member of the Rod Stewart Band for six years?
The fourth group to play the Twilight Tuesday stage is one of the area’s most exciting groups, Dr. Zhivegas. Regulars remember that this group closed out the fall season last year on a chilly Halloween night. The wonderful mix of disco, funk, soul and R & B had the crowd moving from start to finish.
You’ll want to be on the lawn May 20.
Once again KEZK 102.5 is sponsoring your Missouri History Museum’s Twilight Tuesday. The radio station is planning to again hand out 102 roses prior to each performance. This veteran group has been together for 25 years and delivers all those classic Motown hits and then some with incredible precision and showmanship. Thousands turn out whenever the revue is here. You don’t want to miss this one!
If jazz is your thing or you remember the mellow sounds of Gaslight Square, then you want to be on the north lawn, June 3 for the soulful renditions offered up by St. Louis’ First Lady of Jazz, Jeanne Trevor. She’s been doing it for more than 40 years, but sounds like she could do it another 40. Don’t miss this icon of St. Louis’ musical legacy.
