According to The Wrap, Academy Award winning actor Jamie Foxx is being considered to play civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a film directed by Oliver Stone.

The DreamWorks/Warner Brothers production will present MLK’s life going from an Atlanta preacher to national figure to his 1968 assassination. King’s children, Dexter King, Bernice King and Martin Luther King III, are reportedly on board as executive producers. Steven Spielberg is also attached as a producer.

The script was written by Kario Salem (The Score, Chasing Mavericks).

Several other MLK biopics have been in the works over the years, but the DreamWorks film is the only one endorsed by the King family.
